About Göteborg

The Workshop

The workshop will be held at Pjäshallen, Övre Kaserngården 8, Göteborg.

The venue is located in an north-eastern area of Göteborg called “Kviberg”, and the building itself dates back to 1895. Today the buildings hosts the “The Sports Fedration of Western Sweden” including the section for disabled athletes, that normally uses the hall we are practicing in this weekend.

What to bring

You should bring your own yogamat and a cushion or blanket for sitting, no rentals will be available at the venue! Also bring extra clothing for sitting and lectures after morning asana sessions.

Handouts will be supplied, but please bring pens and notebooks if you need to take notes.

Food during the workshop

We will not offer any food during the workshop and there are only a few Restaurants and cafés in the vicinity of the venue. However, you are welcome to bring a snack and/or a light lunch and stay in the practice space or eat outside if the weather is nice, although keep in mind that there is no refrigerator at the venue. We suggest you plan for your big meal after we finish our pm sessions at around 16.30.

 Accommodation

If you prefer to be close to the venue, there are two good options.

Kvibergs vandrarhem & stugby is a low cost Hostel in the  area.

Hotel Kviberg Park is a Hotel and conference center located in a newly built multisport arena just a few minutes from Pjäshallen that also has a café and restaurant.

If you prefer to stay in the city center there are off course many options and the central station is only about 15 minutes away.

Getting around

Easiest access to the venue is with Public Transport . From the city Central station, good options are Eastbound trams Nr 7 or 11, getting off at the “Kviberg” station, and then just a short walk to the venue (click here for walking directions). From the Linne area, the “Järntorget” hub-station offers venue access via all eastbound trams on route to the central station.

The city also offers cheap self service commuter bike rentals called “Styr &  Ställ”, and there are a couple of services offering cheap Urban Electric Scooters throughout the City center.

If you come by car, Göteborg is quite tricky to navigate and it´s expensive to park in the centre but there is lots of parking outside and around the venue.

Eating

A very good option for dining is to check out the Linné-area, where our shala is located.  This area has the citys greatest variety of reastaurants.
Some tips on good veggiefood is: DubbeldubbelHappy M-kitchen, En Deli, and Hagabion Café/Kino bar

If you eat fish, Göteborg is known for its selection of excellent fish and seafood restaurants, many of them rewarded with stars in the Guide Michelin

Coffee

Yogis tend to enjoy good coffee, and we are no exception! Check out Da Matteo, Kastello, and Bar Italia if you are a connossieur. There are also many nice places to choose from along Vasagatan, Linnégatan and in Haga, here´s a selection: Caféva in Haga, Dirty Records in Linné, Fröken Olssons close to the central station.

The Shala will be closed during the workshop, but for those of you who are staying on for extra days and would like to visit us, you’re most welcome.
